Bari (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available at "Policlinico Universitario di Bari".
- You will be lodged at the Student' Dormitory or in a student's flat, which is certainly the best way to know the culture of a new country. You will get pocket money for your meals. Further details in CA.
- Social program is available with tours in the cities close to Bari and to the seaside, depending on availability of local committee students. Social programm at the cost of the student.
- Special Remarks: a certificate of good health is necessary to enroll in the Students' house. Please send a copy of this document with the CC.
- Note that it is very important that you confirm yor arrival at least one month before the beggining of the Clerkship! Further details in CA.
Bologna (confirmed 2005)
- All the main clinical Departments are available at "Policlinico Sant' Orsola". Sorry but we cannot offer Neurology and Orthopedics. Preclinical Departments are located 15 minutes walk from the Hospital.
- You will be lodged at the Hospital in a triple bed room. At the Canteen, in the medieval center of the town, 10 min walk from the Hospital, you will receive 1 meal per day, 5 days a week. No breakfast included.
- Organised Social program is NOT available.
- Bologna is 55 minutes on train from Florence and 1,5 hours from Verona and Venice.
- Special Remarks: Bologna is the oldest University in the western world; it was founded in AD 1088.
Brescia (confirmed 2005)
- All clinical fields are avaible.
- Lodging: you'll be staying at the Student Dormitory, which is located 15 minutes walking from the University Hospital. You'll be lodged into single, double or triple rooms. If you have any special request we'll try to please you unless……you snore!!!
- Boarding: meals are provided at the university canteen or in other cafeterias located downtown arranged by our local comitee.
- Social program: a rich variety of hot and spicy activities is available. Such as trips to the surrounding lakes, visit to a local famous wine cellar, drink around the world party, pizza parties and much more!!!!!

Caltanissetta

Catania (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available at the 3 hospitals.
- Students are lodged at Student' House, quite close to all the Hospitals. Lodge and board are for free. You will stay at the student's houses. They are not far from the hospital and from the beaches. Lunch and dinner are for free. The meals are served at the three student's restaurant: Oberdan (the main one). The meal consists in first plate, second plate, salad, fruit and water.
- Social program: During your clerkship we'll go out and party many times together and we'll organise a lot of trips (Etna trip, Taormina), barbeque, football matches and everything can enjoy your month in our city! Brand new: we'll go ice skating, a moment of ice and fresh air during our hot summer! Don't forget a pair of long trousers and a jumper, it will be useful also for the trip to Etna!
- Special Remark: there is a volcano here, Etna, that, as at the time of ancient Greeks, continues to cast unchanged its perpetual spell.

Chieti (confirmed 2005)
- Chieti is a nice city of about 80.000 inhabitants, located on a hill, near both to the sea and the mountains.
- You will stay in a flat we'll rent for you and the other foreign students.
- Chieti is a pretty good place to stay: in summer you can go to the beach, have a trip to our beautiful national park (food is great there!!!), go out and have fun on weekend nights and don't forget, Rome is just 2 hours away!
- We'll try to make our best to let you enjoy your stay with us... but please remember that in July we're still studying for our summer exam session!!!
Ferrara (confirmed 2005)
- Ferrrara is a small town near Bologna.
- All Departments are available.
- Students going to Ferrara need a certificate released from their University which confirms the student status.
Foggia
- No Exchange Programs yet.
Genova (confirmed 2005)
- Genova is a big city on the sea, and a big University.
- You will lodge, with the other foreign students, in a flat, 10 minutes far, by bus, from the hospital. In order to let you stay there, we must ask you, at your arrival, a deposit of € 51 (50 USD). At the end of the month, if everything in the house is OK, you will get your money back. We hope it doesn't bother you too much. We will also take care of food, giving you, at your arrival, an amount of money. Remember to bring with you sheets and towels!
Messina (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available at "Policlinico G. Martino".
- Students will live at the Student' House, 20 minute walk from the Hospital.
- Social program is available, of course, and you will have a lot of problems in deciding what to do in our city!
- Special Remarks: "If one should spend just one day in Sicily and ask: <What one must see? > I would answer without hesitation: <Taormina>. It is only a landscape, but a landscape in which you find everything that seems created on earth to seduce eyes, mind and fantasy." (Guy de Maupassant, 1885).
Milano (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available at the 3 University Hospitals.
- Students are hosted at Student' House, or will live in flats together with medical students.
- Food: Once in Milan you will be given meal tickets (but only if you are hosted at Students' House; if you are hosted by medical student's family, your host person is supposed to give you lunch and dinner). They are valid both for lunch and for dinner during the week and also on week-ends and they can be used at the hospital or the student canteen or in many bars and restaurants in Italy.
- Milano is the city of business and fashion... but for SISM people, Milano is also the head of the "Calcutta Village Project"... So here you can have every kind of experience, from very snobbish, up to very spiritual ones.
Monza (confirmed 2005)
- Monza is s quiet but enjoying city, which has the largest park of Europe. You can enjoy the park in all season, swimming, jogging, skating, riding bikes and horses and listening any kind of music.
- You will always be here with some other foreign students!
- The city has also a lot of historical interesting monuments: the cathedral, the royal palace, the Argentario, royal gardens...
- It is necessary to bring a certification proving immunization against HBV and a certificate showing the year in which you are enrolled at your Medical Faculty (certified by the University).
Napoli Federico II (confirmed 2005)
- Naples is very famous all over the word for the delicious kitchen, the lovely everywhere song "o'sole mio" and many more things. You will be ecstasized with the natural wonder of the Vesuvio or the wonderful island: Capri, Ischia and Procida...
Napoli S.U.N. (confirmed 2005)
- You are lodged in a Hotel. You have to share the room with another incoming of your sex. The Hotel is in historical centre of Naples and it is 10 minutes walk from our university. The rooms have inside the bathroom. Nobody else (relatives, friends..) can sleep in your room.
- You'll have free two meals for day, all the days except Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant is 2 minutes walk from the Hotel. Remember you that the mineral water or other drink are not free, you must pay it.
- To be authorized to attend a Clerkship in Naples you must be owner of a personal accident insurance policy and of a civil liability insurance policy. At the moment of your arrival in Naples you will have to produce a copy of the insurance policies or a declaration by the insurance Company. Without these documents you will not accepted in Naples.
- Naples hides inside 2000 years of History of different domination: Greek, Arabian, French, Spanish that left their sign in the language, custom and way of life. You will find this cultures just walking on the streets or visiting the huge number of churches, old buildings and museums.
Novara (confirmed 2005)
- You will attend our University Hospital "Maggiore della carità".
- You must be owner of a personal accident insurance policy. At the moment of your arrival in Novara you will need a copy of the insurance policies or a declaration by the insurance Company. You will not accepted in Novara without these documents.
- At your arrival we will ask you a deposit of € 100. If everything in the house is OK, you will get your money back at the end of the journey. We hope it doesn't bother you too much.
- In Novara there are some historical monumets that you could visit, but over all lots of speciality to eat! Near Novara there are also lots of natural scenaries: there are Maggiore lake and Orta Lake, Alps mountains chain... if you wish we can visit them altogether.
- You have to bring all the clinical material you will need (neurological hammer, stethoscope, white coat and all surgical dresses).

Padova (confirmed 2005)
- You'll work for 5 days per week, from 08:00 to 16:00, but it depends on the Department you'll choose. You have to bring your own white coat and sthetoscope. We guarantee you'll get great support and of course we promise you'll have fun in Padova! :-)
- We guarantee one daily meal and lodging under bilateral agreement. You will be lodged in an University Residence called "De Cristoforis": Campus made up of 74 separate apartments and 60 of them are characterized by two single rooms, bathroom and a little kitchen and 14 of them have one single room, bathroom, a little kitchen and a studying room. New building equipped with TV room, computer room where Internet is available, studying room, gymnasium, laundry and private parking. Porter's lodge available all the day. Free board (either lunch or dinner) is granted from Monday to Friday by University's Canteens which are situated in different parts of the town. You are supposed to pay the meal at the canteen and we'll refund you at the end of your stay in Padua by giving us the receipts.
- We must ask you, at your arrival, a deposit of € 100. At the end of the month, if everything in the house is OK, you will get your money back. We hope it doesn't bother you too much.
Palermo (confirmed 2005)
- You will share your Clerkship with a lot of other students from all over the world, more than 100!!!.
- All the main Departments are available at "Policlinico P.Giaccone", the University hospital. You'll work for 5 days per week, from 08:00 to 13:00, but it depends on the Department you'll choose. You have to bring your own white coat and sthetoscope.
- Students are lodged at Student Housing, quite close to the Hospital: its name is Pensionato universitario "Santi Romano", Viale delle Scienze, Edificio 1 - 90128 Palermo.
- At the University Canteen of the Student Housing you will receive one meal a day (dinner), but with 3 euro more you will have lunch at the canteen, 7 days a week. No breakfast is included. Don't bring sheets for your bed, we'll provide for them, bring your own towels. You can't bring with you: weapons, animals, boy/girlfriend, friends, brothers, sisters, grandpa, grandma and the rest of the family...
- As exchange students you are eligible for a discount when using the bus. Ask the Local Committee for details when you arrive.
- In August, when we usually have a group of 70-80 exchange students, we use to plan a great social programme wich includes few tours all around Sicily to make you visit the most beautiful places! The list of the places includes
- The Greek temples of Agrigento;
- Monreale cathedral;
- Marsala
- Erice middle age castle;
- Selinunte and Segesta Greek temples;
- Cefalù
- Bagheria
- And, last but not least, every weekend of August you will find, at least, a disco-party, which will entertain you to the max with 60s, 70s, 80s, rock and disco music. We always organize also the "international week", with typical food, music and drink.
Pavia (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available at "Policlinico San Matteo", one of the most famous hospitals in Italy.
- Students are lodged in different Students' Dormitories, depending on the time of the year that you come. At the University Canteen you will receive breakfast and 2 meals a day, 6 days a week.
- Social program is available; just try to remember that during the year we have to study!
Pisa (confirmed 2003)
- The Departments available are: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery and Anesthesiology.
- Lodging: students are host in the student house of the university. This student house called "Paradisa" is 15-20 minutes far from the hospital by bike. (we'll give each student a bike when he/she arrives to ride every day). This house is also accessed by two lines of buses coming every 15 minutes and stopping their courses at 22.00.
- Meals: students can eat at the university restaurant twice a day for free for all the period of staying (also Saturday and Sunday). there are two University restaurants: one nearer the student house and one nearer the hospital, just in the center of Pisa.
- Social program is available.
Roma 'La Sapienza' (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available at "Policlinico Umberto I"
- During the month of the Clerkship you will live in the "Students' House", in Via Cesare De Lollis 20, at few minutes by foot from the Policlinico Umberto I, the hospital of your clerkship, or into the house of one student that will accommodate you for all your permanence. Same thing is worth for eating, to the canteen of the Policlinico or into the house of the student whom it accommodates to you, for the lunch and the supper of all the week. You must remember to bring the towels.
- The morning from Monday to Friday, five hours every morning, you will be able to attend the unit that you have chosen. Our task will be to try to assure to you your first option.
During the afternoon and the evening you will be able to see with us the city and Rome by night. - Keats, Goethe and many other artists stopped here and were inspired by Roma, the eternal city... maybe you will discover a poet as well as a future doctor.
Roma 'Tor Vergata' (confirmed 2005)
- Lodging: Incoming students will be hosted in Italian student's appartments.
- Available Department of Policlinico Tor Vergata: Oncology, Emergency Room, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Cardiology, Paediatrics, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Haematology, Urology, Gynaecology, General Surgery, Dermatology, Infective Diseases.
- Special Remarks: Health Insurance and Passport or Identity Card's copy.
- Social program: yes, on Friday and Saturday night.
- Transport: Subway is always near the Italian student's appartments or the student will go to the university with the Italian student who lives with him.
Sassari (confirmed 2005)
- Sassari is a nice city in one of the most famous regions of Italy: Sardegna,famous for the beautiful beaches and the sea, for the fantastic landscape and the historical monuments! Also you can taste our gastronomic tradition and, above all, the "mirto"!
- Local Committee we will follow all the IFMSA rules to accommodate you: free board and lodging, many departments, and an unforgettable social program.

Siena (confirmed 2005)
- For this year only General Surgery, Medical clinical, Pediatrics and Otorhinolaryngology are available at the "Policlinico Le Scotte".
- Students are hosted at Student's House near the hospital. Once in Siena you will be given meal tickets that you can use to eat at the refectory located near the Student's House. The tickets are valid both for lunch and for dinner during the week (Monday-Friday).
- Siena is a medieval city with important monuments and squares like Piazza del Campo where the Palio takes place.
Torino (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available. The Hospital in which you will practice is the "San Giovanni Battista" also called "Molinette", your practice will last from 9 am to 1 pm.
- Students are lodged at Students' Dormitory "Villa San Giuseppe" (for further informations see www.villasangiuseppe.it), where the board is offered too: 2 meals a day, 6 days a week.
- Social program is available, it is free and Torino is gorgeous. It runs mainly during the weekend with tour of the city and dinner with the typical dishes of our region. Moreover Torino will be the Olympic winter games host city from 10th to 26th February 2006.
Trieste (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available.
- Students are lodged at Students' Dormitory, and the board consists of 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner), 7 days a week. During weekends breakfast will also be served.
- Organised Social program is NOT available.
- Special Remarks: Health Insurance is absolutely compulsory!
- Trieste is a cross road between the Central European and the Mediterranean cultures... imagine the gastronomic result!
Udine (confirmed 2005)
- All the main departments are available. In some of them, it's necessary to speak Italian!
- BOARD AND LODGING: Lodging and boarding (lunch and dinner) are free of charge and are provided in the Student's House. SISM can't accommodate friends or relatives.
- HOSPITAL: Students are placed in the University Hospital called "Policlinico Universitario". Students can go to the hospital by bus.
- Udine is a small but beautiful city in the north-eastern side of Italy, very close to Venice. Try our wines and "frico with potatoes" and you'll remember us!
Varese (confirmed 2005)
- All the main Departments are available.
- Students are lodged in an apartment. It is shared with other incoming students. Kitchen facilities are available and you're free to use them. The bedroom is shared with the other students.
- Social program is available.
- Special Remarks: Health insurance and public liability insurance are absolutely compulsory!
Verona (confirmed 2005)
- All the Departments are available.
- In Verona we have two hospitals:
- "Policlinico Borgo Roma " is the University Hospital.
- "Ospedale Borgo Trento " is the civil one. - We suggest you to attend at the University Hospital of Borgo Roma (as you'll have the canteen just close to the hospital!and you may stay with others student) anyway you can also attend at Borgo Trento which is reachable in 20-30 minutes by Bus.
- You can eat also in another canteen very close to your Residence. Those canteen give meal twice a day, from monday to friday, and the food is for free.
- Students are lodged at one Residence, and they have one flat with two double room and one kitchen.
- Health insurance is a must; it's possible to subscrive one here, at the cost of 20 euro.
